El Programa Nacional de Apareamiento de Residencia (The National Resident Matching Program, NRMP)

La mayoría de los hospitales seleccionan a sus candidatos para residencia entre aquellos que participan en el Apareamiento (“Match”). Este programa de apareamiento de candidatos a posiciones de entrenamiento para las residencias le permite al candidato decidir las entrevistas y sus preferencias en forma privada y a los hospitales tabular por niveles a aquellos que van entrevistado. Las listas de preferencias de los candidatos son combinadas por computadora en el NRMP. Luego el NRMP ofrece una lista universal de las solicitudes, la cual es aceptada por muchos programas de entrenamiento.

Servicio Electrónico para solicitud de Residencia “Electronic Residency Application Service” (ERAS).

Este servicio fue implementado para enviar vía Internet las solicitudes de residencia, cartas de recomendación, cartas de decanos, transcripciones y otro material de soporte a los directores de programa de las diferentes residencias. Este servicio está disponible para “International Medical Graduates” a través del ECFMG. El costo se basa en un sistema regulado dependiente al número de programas a que el médico haya solicitado.
